Research Centre of the Institute of Health Sciences – CIICS

In late 2022 and early 2023, the ICS began preparations for the creation of the Statutes of the future Research Centre of the Institute of Health Sciences (CIICS) and the creation of the institution’s scientific journal, Timor-Leste Journal of Medical Sciences, as well as preparations to develop a solid team of researchers in the field of health sciences and health education. Likewise, a group of computer specialists in Portugal was used to develop an electronic platform for managing and publicising the institution and the journal.

CIICS aims to promote research and the development of knowledge in the area of health sciences and to work towards the application and dissemination of the best results in favour of the defence of health. Despite having five scientific areas, namely Nursing, Biomedical and Laboratory Sciences, Nutrition and Dietetics, Obstetrics and Pharmacy, the ICS intends to start the centre’s work with just one research group with representation in the areas indicated.
